The Ticking Clock

5293

In fiction, the “Ticking Clock” is a trope used to increase the sense of urgency related to a plot point. We’ve all seen these devices used untold numbers of times before in television and movies. “He only has 30 seconds to disarm the bomb before the entire world is vaporized!” You know, that kind of thing.

Well, when I decided to restart my daily blog in February, I started my own ticking clock. It’s the number in the upper right corner of each post. Today’s is 5293.

What does it mean?

It’s a countdown to an arbitrary future date meant to remind me that I only have a limited amount of time left before I leave this mortal coil, so I better make good use of what little I have left.
