Fail, fail, fail, fail, succeed

Enough Said

Whatever happened to romantic comedies made for grownups? Well, I’m happy to say they’re still alive and well. Nicole Holofcener’s captivating 2013 film “Enough Said,” starring James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is the type of adult-themed drama laced with humor you don’t see much of anymore. I couldn’t get enough.

Nicole’s script is the foundation, and it’s a gem. Add in the two lead’s effortlessly charming and poignant performances, and you’ve got lightning in a bottle. Julia, in particular, is just astonishing—funny and real, it’s impossible not to fall in love with her. Gandolfini is the perfect everyman foil.

There’s an underlying melancholy to the whole thing that draws you in—you want these characters to be happy in spite of themselves, the same way you want your friends to be happy if only life and our own bad judgment didn’t keep getting in the way.

Thoughtful, sophisticated, adult entertainment. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
