I started writing my new novel on Monday, so this is the end of day three. Quick thoughts? Well, first off, I’d have to say that, at least at this stage of my life, nothing engages me more than this.
There’s just no other experience that even remotely compares. The closest was back when I was writing, playing, and producing music. That was completely immersive, for sure, but at the time I was trying to master so many disciplines I always felt like I wasn’t quite where I wanted to be in any one of them.
With writing, it’s different. Still very difficult to do well, but it just feels so natural, like this is what I’m supposed to be doing. Instead of trying to master a dozen different disciplines, I’m only trying to master one.
There’ll be a lot to say about this going forward, but I’m off to a good start. Can’t wait to hit it again tomorrow.
