Ok, so I got this email from The Washington Post offering a one year subscription for $29.00, full price after that. Wow, I thought. Definitely want to take advantage of that. So I click on the link and end up on what appears to be their order form.
But before I entered my cc info, I stopped. What if this some kind of fishing scam?
So I go to The Washington Post website to see if I could at least interact with a chatbot to maybe get some reassurance, but their service was down. So I just say fuck it. I didn’t want it that bad anyway.
An hour later I get another email. Now I’m starting to get pissed. I want The Washington Post for $29.00, goddamnit, but I can’t bring myself to buy it because I can’t tell whether it’s a scam or not.
And this is where we’re at. In an election year no less. What do we do when we literally can’t trust anything ?
It’s not a rhetorical question.
